When We Were Young
I gaze out, unto the golden sands
A flicker of light dances on the sunlit sea
This is where we came when we were young
The calabash tree like a monument still stands
A stones throw away from old man Daniel's hut
Everything still looks the same, as time captured in a frame
But somehow they're just places now.
A walk by the brook, where we played as kids
A mere trickle of its former self but still in fighting spirits
The wind in the trees sing a familiar song
Words of promise and a gentle breeze
Off in the distance, our rock, our first kiss
Looming as a giant in the sun
Here we explored when we were young
But somehow they're just places now
